Mark your calendars for plants, crafts, and Groovy fun!
October 29 (Sat) from 8am – 1pm
Of course, I’ll have my book, Baskets for Butterflies.
But that’s not all . . . In honor of my macramé items, I’m going to celebrate the 1960’s and 70’s by dressing up as a hippie!
Where did I find the clothes? (My closet). Where did I wear them? (West High School, which was the original name for Metro Tech High.) There are more embarrassing details below, but here’s the event info first:
Metro Tech High School

October 29 (Sat) from 8am – 1pm
Admission is free.
Last year 1,000 people attended this annual event presented cooperatively between the Maricopa County Master Gardeners and Metro Tech High School.
Master Gardeners donate many of the plants; some are quite odd and unusual. (The plants, not the gardeners!)
This is my favorite event, and I’ve been attending, volunteering, or selling as a vendor for more than five years. This year, I’m going all out to make it even more fun!
After being immersed in crafting macramé projects from vintage 1960 and 1970 books, I decided to celebrate that theme more fully by dressing in clothing that I wore to school during that same time period.
When I originally donned my hippie clothing, I was attending West High School (now called Metro Tech). In fact, within the halls of this institution’s library rests some old year books with a few horrid pictures of me as a teen. (I’ll never admit to this, if asked.)
Don’t be ‘square.’ Get ‘Hip’ and join the ‘scene.’
